When we were children, the scariest thing was ghost stories, but as we grow older, we know that ghosts are not real but myths.
当我们还是个孩子的时候,最可怕的事情是鬼故事,但是随着年龄的增长,我们知道鬼不是真实的而是神话。
But in Chinese culture, these stories aren't so much of a myth but a reality.
但是在中国文化中,这些故事不是神话,而是现实。

The Hungry Ghost Festival is one of several traditional festivals in China where ancestors are worshiped. It's celebrated on the 14th day of the seventh lunar month. During this time, spirits roam around the living to visit their families.
饿鬼节是中国几个祭祖的传统节日之一。在农历第七月的第14天庆祝。在这段时间里,烈酒四处游荡以探望他们的家人。
But spirits who no longer have families to visit search for victims on whom they can feast.
但是,不再有家人来拜访的烈酒寻找可以饱餐的受害者。
