During Ghost Month, people fo everything they can to appease the unhappy spirits. Here's a sneak peak of what to expect and know what to look forward to.
1st Day
On the first day of ghost month, people start burning hell money outside their premises on the streets. People also burn incense to comfort the spirits and make sacrifices of food and other potential goods. There are street ceremonies, markets, and temple ceremonies.

Last Day
The last day of the Hungry Ghost month is marked with the Hungry Ghost Festival. On this day the gates of hell are closed once again, indicating the end of the seventh lunar month.

Many families float river lanterns on little boats in around the late afternoon. Ghosts are believed to follow the floating river lanterns away.
