The most important offer of all is the food, that's if you don't want ghosts wrecking things around. There are also some paper offerings of food that people may burn.

INCENSE 香
Incense has always been an important symbol in the Chinese community. One of it's main uses is that it serves as a way of communicating with ancestors, ghosts and other spirits. Burning incense is the most common way to bless and clean your space from negative energy.
FOOD 香纸
Food is the most important piece during Ghost Month. The belief is that these ghosts are hangry, so in order to appease them Chinese families prepare a large feast for the ghosts. Simple foods like roast meats or vegetarian dishes are served to reflect on the festival's Buddhist ties. Dishes are served with empty seats for each dead relative in the family treating them as if they are still living.
