It's Ghost Month

When we were children, the scariest thing was ghost stories, but as we grow older, we know that ghosts are not real but myths.

But in Chinese culture, these stories aren't so much of a myth but a reality.

The Hungry Ghost Festival is one of several traditional festivals in China where ancestors are worshiped. It's celebrated on the 14th day of the seventh lunar month. During this time, spirits roam around the living to visit their families.

But spirits who no longer have families to visit search for victims on whom they can feast.

It’s a bit premature to talk about costumes, candy and trick-or-treating in the U.S. but if you’re headed to Asia this coming year, then talking about ghosts will fit right in to your daily routine.
